Once I was a maiden,
But now I am a spent, widow,
My strongly plowing the waves
the hills and far away.

He is my hero, my darling,
He is my caesar, a darling;
I've found rest nor fortune
Since my gallant went far away.

day I am constantly enduring grief,
Weeping and shedding tears,
my lively lad has left me
And no news is of him - alas!

The does not sing cheerfully at noon
And the sound of hounds is not heard in woods
Nor summer morning in glen
Since my lively boy went away me.

Noble, young horseman,
Youth gloom, of pleasant countenance,
A fist, nimble in a fight,
Slaying the enemy and the strong.

Let a strain be on musical harps,
And let many quarts be on the table,
With high spirit, fault, without gloom,
That my lion may receive long and health.

Gallant for a while under sorrow,
And completely under black cloacks,
I have neither rest nor fortune
Since my gallant darling far away
